Island’s Call, a classic calypso masterpiece recorded by Patrick Humphrey and the Rhythm Riders Band in 1973 and released in 1974, is set to celebrate its golden anniversary…and… Patrick Humphrey will be performing his classic at the First UK Prime Minister’s Gala.

This milestone coincides with Grenada’s commemoration of 50 years of independence, making it a double jubilee of cultural and historical significance.

Patrick Humphrey, affectionately known as Unlucky, not only gifted the world with Island’s Call but also clinched the Grenada National Calypso Title in 1971 and 1973.

In addition to creating a great musical classic, Patrick has been an influential educator, serving in the teaching profession at Birch Grove Catholic Elementary School.

Island’s Call, a timeless calypso treasure, captured the essence of the Caribbean and brought the spirit of Grenada to the world when it was released half a century ago.

About Patrick Humphrey: Patrick Humphrey, known as Calypsonian Unlucky, is a celebrated musician and educator from Birch Grove, Grenada. He won the Grenada National Calypso Title in 1971 and 1973 and has made significant contributions to the cultural and educational landscape of Birch Grove and Grenada as a whole. Patrick was also a dedicated teacher at Birch Grove Catholic Elementary School.
